Well, that's what we are bound to do. And mind you, we're not just going to imagine it, we'll experience it in reality! We, The Friends of the Library Club (FOL), will have our educational field trip on the 17th day of September 2010. The club believes this is one efficient way of arousing the interest and at the same time encouraging the youth of today to gradually start building their foundation on knowledge through the exploration of books. The club members consider that now is the great opportunity to start deflecting from following the current trend, by this we mean, the internet. Though it is a fact that internet is definitely a distinguished source of almost any information under the sun, it doesn't imply that it is the best. And that is why the FOL members organized this meaningful trip. It was done for us to realize that the great quality of knowledge is not only acquired when surfing the net, instead it can be attained through one of the oldest ways possible, books.

Marianne Cecile P. The event is also an opportunity for us to reflect upon the intangible means by which the human spirit affects our lives and gain some understanding of the human nature which provides us with the will to live and survive.

We grow stronger with all the trials and tribulations which test us each day. We become more resilient to challenges in our lives. There are many examples of inspiring human spirit we encounter each day. We see children and their elders building bonds of respect and trust. We see parents smile as they bring their children to school. We enjoy hearing stories of how a community pulled together to help a family with its problems. The power of the human spirit can bring about peace and harmony and improve the lives of many.

We all have tremendous potentials. Most are not aware of it and do not capitalize on it, tending to be satisfied with weakness, little realizing that we are capable of much more. Some are lucky to find this hidden strength and use it. Some are taught the hard way when stressful situations arise and force us to rely on our last hope of survival – our human spirit. Hold close to this immense strength and face the challenges in the world with a smile.

Librarian Licensure Examination Results Released

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) yesterday
announced that 237 out of 1,003 examinees passed the Librarian
Licensure Examination given by the Board for Librarians in the cities
of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao and Legazpi this November, 2008.

The successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest
places are the following: (1) Elijah John Fernando Dar Juan, University
of the Philippines- Diliman, 87.75; (2) Bernadette Dava Sueño,
University of the Philippines- Diliman, 86.50; (3) Ruel Romarate Yu,
University of San Jose-Recoletos, 86.45; (4) Kristine Yap Martinez,
University of San Carlos, 85.70; (5) Nomer Albarando Alcazar,
University of the Philippines- Diliman, 85.60; (6) Marion Jude Maristela
Gorospe, Roosevelt College-Cainta, 84.55; (7) Jacquelyn Joy Latina
Llave, Centro Escolar University - Manila, 84.30; (8) Lorraine Dawn
Gamel Honrade, University of the Philippines — Diliman, 84.15 (9)
Czarina Paola Pareja dela Llarte, University of the Philippines —
Diliman, 84.00; and (10) Edward Hilado Puzon - University of Santo
Tomas, 83.80.

On the Board for Librarians which gave the licensure
examination are Corazon M.
